How to Prepare for Your Photo Shoot

Here is a list of things to take into consideration in order to look and feel your best for your photo shoot.

General

  • Lips – Make sure to keep your lips moisturized. Remember to bring lip balm or a lip gloss that is coordinated with your outfits.

  • Nails – Apply a fresh coat of nail polish the day before your photo shoot in order to avoid chipping and to ensure the greatest color vibrancy. Also, make sure that your nail polish is coordinated with whatever outfits you may be changing into and that your nails / cuticles are generally well manicured.

  • Teeth – Brush your teeth and floss before your photo shoot. This will help your teeth stay white and clean for every picture.

  • Hair – Make sure to bring extra bobby pins and hair ties for any different hairstyles you are going to wear. Also, remember to take into consideration the weather / humidity and how it will affect your hairstyles. If you have facial hair, make sure to appropriately trim and shave in order to provide the neatest appearance.

  • Eyes – If you have allergies that cause eye redness, make sure to bring eye drops or an appropriate allergy medication. Also, make sure to bring extra contact solution if you wear contacts in order to prevent dryness and irritation.

  • Skin – Keep your skin well moisturized in order to prevent the skin from looking dry. Bring a small bottle of your preferred moisturizer. If you choose to use a tanning lotion, be sure that it matches your skin tonality and is evenly applied.

Attire

  • Wrinkles –Remember to iron out any wrinkles from your clothing. If you are going to be wearing an outfit that easily wrinkles, change into it right before your photo shoot.

  • Lint – Use a lint roller to remove any lint from your clothing. This is especially important with dark colored clothing and suits.

  • Shoes – Make sure that your shoes are coordinated with your outfit and allow for you to easily maneuver on location.

  • Undergarments – Wear undergarments that will remain hidden under whatever outfits you may be wearing. This is especially important with light colored clothing that may reveal undergarment outlines and color.

Makeup

Makeup Artist (MUA) – Roland Lim Photography provides the service of a makeup artist in the effort to create your best look. However, this service is preferential and you are more than welcome to apply your own makeup. If you choose to use your own makeup, make sure to bring plenty of powder in order to reduce skin shine and gloss.

Attitude

You don’t have to be a model to take great photographs – remember to be yourself and your inner and outer beauty will shine!
